Israel training autistic adults for cybersecurity jobs

New initiative will enable people with disabilities to fill job openings such as security operations center inspector.

Israel’s National Cyber Security Authority and Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Social Services has launched a new cybersecurity training course for 16 people on the autism spectrum, aged 21 and up.

The 250-hour course is the brainchild of Ram Levy, CEO of Tel Aviv-based cybersecurity company Konfidas. Levy reportedly aims to enable people with disabilities to fill job openings in the cybersecurity field, especially the position of security operations center inspector.

Students are to be paired with mentors at companies including IBM, Israel Electric Corporation, Bank Hapoalim, Israel Discount Bank and Facebook Israel for practical training, while theoretical training will be held at See Security College in Ramat Gan.

The students will take cybersecurity accreditation exams at the end of the course and will be eligible for internships at the sponsoring firms.
